Jason Harmeson is a 2nd generation farrier from Lakeside, Ca.  He grew up on the standard bred race tracks shoeing horses with his father, Jim Harmeson of Ohio. After six years in the Navy, which brought Jason to San Diego, he started his own practice in 1990.  Shoeing all breeds and disciplines including, at one point, over 40 head of draft horses every 8 weeks.  He passed his AFA certified journeyman test in 1996 and later became an examiner for the American Farriers Association certification program. He was on the American Farriers Team in 2005 and spent 15 years as a Board Member with the AFA and 17 years as Chapter President for the San Diego County Farriers Association.  In 2004 he won Best Shod award in Grass Valley at the Draft Horse Classic and in 2005 he won the three man draft shoeing contest in Lakeside with his father and 12 year old daughter.  It’s his honor to be asked to judge the 2017 Edward Martin Perpetual.
